O'Malley's Tallies: Week 13 -- Carolina Runnin' Wild

STUDS

1. DeAngelo Williams – It wasn’t always super flashy or highlight reel material, but whenever a running back reaches the endzone FOUR times, a lot of love has to be given. That was the case for the former Memphis Tiger DeAngelo Williams in Sunday’s back and forth win over the Packers in Lambeau. Despite only averaging a meager 3.4 yards a carry, Williams still found a way to continue his breakout 08’ campaign and push the Panthers closer to a first round bye.

2. Tony Romo – If you weren’t sure before their Thanksgiving game before vs. Seattle, I think it now very evident that the Dallas Cowboys are indeed back. Without much surprise, the main reason for this has been getting their all pro quarterback Tony Romo back under center. Playing vs. the Seahawks in the Thanksgiving spotlight, Romo threw for 331 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead America’s team to a 34-9 rout. Although everyone is starting to smile again in Big D, they might want to keep things in check as they have to face off this Sunday vs. the Black and Gold (Just ask Matt Cassel)…

3. Donovan McNabb – After being the negative subject of every Philadelphia sports talk show and nearly being booed out of the city, Donovan McNabb really stepped out and silenced the naysayers on Turkey Day. Going up against league interception leading Arizona Defense, McNabb was turnover free and threw for 4 touchdowns in the Eagles blowout win. While this performance might be too little to late for the Birds playoff chances, it definitely will make the team’s front office think twice about letting McNabb go in the offseason and sign with a conference rival…

4. Peyton Hillis – Which Arkansas rookie running back is getting the most hype right now going into week 14? Darren McFadden? Nope. Felix Jones? Nope. PEYTON HILLIS!?!? Uhhh….yes. Still employed as Denver’s feature back due to a number of injuries, Hillis is making the most of his opportunity and looking more and more confident with every week. Sunday vs. the Jets, Hillis racked up 129 yards and 1 touchdown in the team’s upset win vs. Gang Green in the Meadowlands…

5. Steve Slaton – It seemed every time I looked at the television on MNF this week that Steve Slaton was breaking off another huge run for the Texans. Going up against the disappointing Jags at home, Slaton carried the rock 21 times for 130 yards and 2 scores to make a late push for the Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and get his time the win in front of a national audience….

DUDS

1. Detroit Lions - ……………………………….

2. Brett Favre – Although the weather wasn’t the best Sunday in the Meadowlands, there is really no excuse for Brett Favre’s sub par performance vs. the awful Denver Defense. While you would think Thomas Jones running wild would open things up for #4, this wasn’t even close to the case as Favre failed to throw a touchdown and racked up the majority of his yards after the game was out of reach. Luckily for the Jets, the 49ers await them this week in San Francisco…

3. Ryan Fitzpatrick – I doubt that this is the case, but anyone that started Ryan Fitzpatrick on Sunday vs. Baltimore should have their head examined. With a completion percentage under 40% and only 124 passing yards, it is tough to believe any Bengal is worth a start going forward the rest of the year…

4. Plaxico Burress – I think this one is obvious. Whether it is for his fantasy football value, his importance to the Giants, or for his personal and family well being, Plaxico’s actions this weekend were truly stupid. Plain and simple. Barring a major change, it is probably safe for fantasy owners to drop this #17 in standard leagues…

GOOD LUCK IN FANTASY PLAYOFFS!!!
