Sports and the Law: Harvard Sports Law Symposium Starts on Friday

This weekend is the annual Harvard Sports Law Symposium--a gathering of many of the biggest names in sports law practice and academia. The theme of this year's symposium is "Resisting the Recession: Growth Opportunities for Sports in an Economic Downturn." I will be speaking on the opening panel about the problems with public funding of professional sports facilities (pdf). (Friday at 5 P.M.).

Others that will be speaking over the course of the weekend include noted sports economist, and often expert witness, Andrew Zimbalist (keynote speaker), NFL Executive Vice President Jeffrey Pash (Saturday lunch presenter), and the law firm partners and in-house counsel representing many of your favorite teams around the country.

I expect this free event to be a great way to both network in the field, and to learn about recent issues confronting the sports industry. For information on how to sign up for this event, including a full list of invitees, please see here. (Note: The event ends on Saturday afternoon, so it will not interfere with Selection Sunday).
