Fantasy Hockey Pickups: Week 6

Welcome to Week 6 of Fantasy Hockey Pickups. The fantasy hockey season is now 1/4 over (for those of you that play 24 weeks, including playoffs). Hopefully you were able to get off to a good start and have your team established enough to guide you to the playoffs. If not, you still have some time to make your move and here are some guys that may be able to give you that boost.

Forwards

Mike Knuble - RW - (WAS): Mike Knuble had 2G, 3A, 2PIM, and was a +5 last week. Overall he has 14 pts, 18 PIM, and is a +12. Knuble is on a bit of a hot streak lately so could be a good substitute right now for an injured player on your team. Knuble is only available in 20% of Yahoo Leagues.

Ryan Malone - LW - (TB): Ryan Malone had 2G, 1A, 1PPP, 1GWG, and was a +2 last week. Overall he has 10G and 4GWG. Malone is off to a excellent start this year and should be considered in deeper leagues. Malone is available in 36% of Yahoo Leagues.

Alex Tanguay - LW - (TB): Alex Tanguay had 2G, 3A, 1PPP, 1GWG and was a +5 last week. Overall he 3G and 6A. Tanguay had a slow start to the season but looks to be getting himself back on track. Tanguay is available in 53% of Yahoo Leagues.

James van Riemsdyk - LW - (PHI): James van Riemsdyk had 1G, 3A, 2PIM, 1PPP, 1GWG, and was a +2 last week. Overall he has 3G, 11A, 3PPP, and is a +6. van Riemsdyk currently is among the point leaders of rookies with 14 pts. He should be considered because I don't see his production to let up any time soon. He is available in 59% of Yahoo Leagues.

Ryan O'Reilly - C - (COL): Ryan O'Reilly had 2G, 1A, 2PIM and was a +3 last week. Overall he as 4G, 10A, and is a +13. O'Reilly is making a big statement on why he deserved to stay with the Avalanche and not be sent down. He is among the the point leaders of rookies with 14 points and is currently 2nd in the NHL with his +/- rating of +13. He is available in 76% of Yahoo Leagues.

Saku Koivu - C - (ANH): Saku Koivu had 1G, 2A, 6PIM, 1PPP and was a +2 last week. Overall he 8 pts and 5PPP. Koivu sees plenty of time on the PP and has capitalize thus far. He is also playing on a line with Teemu Selanne which should help to give him plenty of offensive chances. He is available in 83% of Yahoo Leagues.

Tomas Fleischmann - LW - (WAS): Tomas Fleischmann had 3G, 1A, 1PPP, 1GWG, and was a +4 last week. Fleischmann has been hot since his return from injury and has 7 pts in 6 games. Fleishmann has capitalized on the increased ice time and should be considered while on this hot streak. He is available in 84% of Yahoo Leagues.

Nicklas Bergfors - RW - (NJ): Nicklas Bergfors had 2G, 1A, 1GWG, and 3 PPP last week. Overall he has 9 pts and 5PPP so far this season. Bergfors is in what he hopes to be his first full NHL season and so far is showing the Devils that he belongs. He is available in 94% of Yahoo Leagues.

Defensemen

Pavel Kubina -D - (ATL): Pavel Kubina had 3G, 2PPP, and 8 PIM last week. Kubina seems to be getting his scoring touch back and also is getting points on the PP. He seems to be on the up swing right now and can be considered if you need help on your blue line. He is available in 24% of Yahoo Leagues.

Kyle Quincey - D - (COL): Kyle Quincey had 3A, 1PPP, and was a +4 last week. Overall he has 9A, 5PPP, and is a +7. Quincey has brought an offensive touch to the Colorado blue line and has played a part in the recent success of the Avalanche. He is available in 26% of Yahoo Leagues.

Erik Johnson - D - (STL): Erik Johnson had 2A, 1PPP, and 4 PIM last week. Overall he has 9A and 3PPP. Johnson is a great passer and will definitely get more than his fair share of assists. He also sees plenty of time on the PP, which adds to his value. He is available in 54% of Yahoo Leagues.

Tobias Enstrom - D - (ATL): Tobias Enstrom had 2G, 2A, 1PPP, and 2PIM. Overall he has 9A and 5PPP. Enstrom seems have flown under the radar in many leagues and would be a great pickup for anyone needing some help on defense. He is available in 72% of Yahoo Leagues.

Francois Beauchemin - D - (TOR): Francois Beauchemin had 2A, 2PPP, and 4PIM last week. Overall he has 5 pts, all of which came on the PP. Beauchemin is an option for teams in deeper leagues. He is available in 95% of Yahoo Leagues.

Goalies

Jonas Gustavsson - G - (TOR): Jonas Gustavsson had 2W, 1.65 GAA, and .952 SV% last week. Gustavsson has started 5 out of the last six games and looks to be the front runner as the starter in Toronto. With every game he plays, he's gaining more confidence and is beginning to show why he was so sought after by the Leafs. He is available in 67% of Yahoo Leagues.

Antero Nittymaki - G - (TB): Antero Nittymaki had 2W, 1.64 GAA and .950 SV% last week. Nittymaki has seen more playing time in Tampa with Mike Smith struggling and could be a good option for teams in deeper leagues. He is available in 72% of Yahoo leagues.

Notable Injuries

Rob Blake - D - (SJ): Upper Body - IR as of 11/5. Impact: Place him on your IR

Shawn Horcoff - C - (EDM): Shoulder - IR as of 11/4. Impact: Place him on your IR

Kristian Huselius - LW - (CLS): Upper Body - IR as of 11/3. Impact: Place him on your IR

Kris Letang - D - (PIT): Right Arm - DTD as of 11/7. Impact: He looks to be out at least 2 weeks so you may want to look for a replacement.

James Neal - LW - (DAL): Groin - DTD as of 11/6. Impact: He should be good to go later this week.

Petr Sykora - RW - (MIN): Concussion - DTD as of 11/9. Impact: He will probably be out this week so bench him.

Cam Ward - G - (CAR): Leg Laceration - DTD as of 11/8. Impact: Not quite sure how long he will be out, but the Canes signed Manny Legace so it looks like it could be quite a while.

Shea Weber - D - (NSH): Foot - IR as of 11/3. Impact: Should be ready this week.
